Chesterbrook swim club vs Highlands

Anonymous
We recently moved to Mclean, and wanted your thoughts on both swim clubs and which one you prefer and why?

We chose based on which pool more of our kids’ friends belonged to and proximity to our home. For us, that was Chesterbrook. Both pools have Division 1 swim teams. If your kids are swimmers, it will be harder for them to qualify for. Saturday A meet.

I would go with the pool where there are other children from your children's school. We go to a school where other children from school also attend. Within 5 minutes of getting there, my children have friends to play with which is great. sometimes for summer, one of the vacation weeks are staycation weeks where we just go to the pool.

They are a 3/4 mile from each other, kids from the same schools are at both pools.

Get on both wait lists and go to one that you are accepted to first.

We live near both but went to Tuckahoe because it has an inside pool that is open all year long.

We had a simile situation. I made my decision based on the pool that had the most shade (one of the pools had a lot of trees on the property so you could sit in the shade) and has a snack shack. The other pool didn't have shade and you could only buy vending machine type food.

Are these pools right next door to each other?

I know the tennis pro who is taking over at Highlands this year and he's fantastic! I'm a member at Tuckahoe and he's leaving to start his own business & going to Highlands.

Parking at highlands is a disaster on busy days. Plus you have to drive over the humps of death.

Interesting- the Pros over the fall were.... sub par.

Chesterbrook used to have ProsToYou and it was a great crew, but then for some reason they gave up the contract. I play tennis at both.

Highlands shadier and far from the road so you feel like you are “away”; swim team is D1 bit far less intense than CB

CB pools are newer and facilities more updated but little shade; swim team is top 2 in the area but VERY intense

Both have a summer camp program..Highlands is a 9 week program that you sign up for weekly and CB runs theirs once the swim team season is done

Both are nice Clubs in their own way

Neither club has a great parking situation
