FFX GT for Disorganized, creative, not confident kid?

Kid had to get tested for private school app. Certainly gifted, but cut out for a GT program is another question. Not a crank out the independent research papers sort. Or, at age 9, not yet.
Any insights into whether a the gifted program would work for a gifted kid who doesn't work in a straight line?

My family may have just been lucky, but I have yet to find a GT teacher that doesn't remember that they are just kids and need downtime if they are going to flourish.

If your kid tests in, you may want to speak to the teachers in your school (there are usually two or three) and describe the challenges your kid faces on a day to day basis- maybe there will be a good match.
