I have a few friends who are AART's. From what I recall, there was an application process whereby they got into the AART "pool". It was only from there that one could become an AART. I think there are many teachers who make this transition, and more applicants than jobs by far.

To move to an AART position they prefer that you have taught a few years in an AAP classroom.
