| District 1 residents (Grubb Road to DC line, Bethesda, Chevy Chase, all the way up to Poolesville): who are you planning to vote for? The primary is on Tuesday, June 26, 2018. I am undecided but wanting to vote for someone who is not getting all their financing through developer contributions. Thoughts? |
| Meredith Wellington, she’s been a citizen activist for years with a focus on cutting developer giveaways and preserving parks and green space and established communities. |
| I'll check out Wellington. I looked into Friedson since he's apparently raised the most so far, but he's getting significant money from developers. I'm interested in someone who will make sure we keep some green space-including in the down county areas. Right now I can't even figure out where to ride my bike. |
Meredith Wellington is the no candidate. No to this, no to that, no to everything, no to change. But you can't stop change by saying no to it. |
I need specifics. |
| What about Fosselman or Cook? Thoughts on those two? |
Look for a specific change that Meredith Wellington has been for. When you find one, could you let me know, please? |
I don't know what you're talking about. She is pulling for Amazon HQ2, she has a lot of ideas for WF and Pike development. I don't see her as averse to change. |
For example? Almost everyone says that they're in favor of Amazon locating at White Flint. Though to be logically consistent with her position against "developer giveaways", she ought to oppose it. |
Saying "no" makes her more than qualified in my opinion. Any idiot can say "yes" to constantly spending more money. It takes discipline and forethought to be able to say "no" |
|
The candidates are Pete Fosselman, Ana Sol Gutierrez, Bill Cook, Reggie Oldak, Jim McGee, Meredith Wellington, Dalbin Osario and Andrew Friedson, each one loonier than the next.
If you want to hear them babble on, here is 60 minutes worth: https://www.facebook.com/FriendsOfWhiteFlint/ |

Fosselman has an ethics problm. Way back when, he invested in real estate that he then sold to a developer for a huge profit. It's toward the end of his long list of problems in this article:

| Meredith my be the candidate I dislike the least at this point. So disappointed in these options... |
| Oh I didn’t know Gutierrez was running. I like her. |
I thought she was ineffective as a state delegate. She seems clueless. Plus she was so lame at the Friends of White Flint debate. She's a NO for me. |
