SW equivalent to Revere Pewter and Edgecomb Gray?

Our (trusted) painter thinks Duron/SW is best paint (and best price) but if we’re “set” on a particular BM color, he recommends we get the BM (a “couple hundred dollar difference”). I guess he doesn’t want to be responsible for an imperfect color match. What would you do?

I love Agreeable Gray

I have Colonnade Gray, which is supposedly almost exactly RP, on my entire downstairs.

I love SW Mindful Gray. It’s a more updated version of Revere Pewter and Edgecomb.

If you're set on a color and a brand, go with that brand.

BTW, I think your painter is full of shit. My old painter also recommended SW Emerald line to me. I've spent thousands of dollars on paint, only to find out that the Home Depot Behr Marquee is just as good at half the price. (from my newest painter)

My whole house is collinade gray. It’s great and yes sw paint is better than Home Depot
We do the low voc in light green can.

Don't be cheap.

Have the SW paint store mix the BM color with SW paint. They do it all the time.

Get the BM or SW, but don't color match. The reason he doesn't want to be responsible for it is because painters know it's not always a true match.

Have you tested out any of these colors on your own walls? If not, get some sample pots and see which ones work best with your room because truly what looks great in somebody else's house may not work as well in yours. I have both RP and EG in my house and they are far from the same color. IMO, RP can start to look a little muddy in rooms without a lot of light.

And it’s often wrong.

FYI, Sample pots in light colors can be extremely difficult to get right because they use such a small amount of tint. Notoriously unreliable, per my color consultant. She recommends just biting the bullet and buying a gallon to test if you're pretty sure it's what you want.

I would be skeptical of any painter who says Duron and SQ are the same quality - they are not. Duron is quite thin and requires MANY coats to look as good as BM. SW is ok but not quite as good as BM.

I'd get SW to make the BM color if you want to follow his lead.
