| Do I need a roommate? Does anyone live comfortably alone on this gross pay in this metro area? |
| Lol. You don’t |
| Not necessarily, but if you’re single, why not until you save enough for a down payment somewhere? |
| List out your debt, total income, and current expenses and people here can advise. I’ve found looking at what others are spending helped us with our budget as well. For instance, we realized we were spending way too much on groceries and have tried to be more conscious about using what we buy wisely and decreasing food waste. |
| Yes, roomates |
| Move out to Gaithersburg or Falls Church. Then you can do it. |
+1 You *can* afford to live on your own but you'll be throwing most of your money into rent. Find a roommate you can deal with and save some money instead. |

$70k for a single person is a decent amount, even in the dc area.
It may be tough to support a family on that amount but it could be done too. |
| Live in a lower cost area in MD, absolutely no entertainment budget, no eating out. |
You don't. You have no life. Its work, beans, sleep, work...and don't dare get sick. |
LOL I hope that is sarcasm. It’s fine. Very good salary for a singleton. |
| Get married? |
| OP - as a single person? NBD. Get a group house somewhere. Tons of young people work on the Hill and make wayyyyy less than that. |
Not very good. It is barely entry level at my company. |
| You are fine, OP - especially being single and no kids. Getting a 2-bedroom with a roommate is generally cheaper. |
