Our dog takes 12+ hours to poop

| She usually eats at night. She doesn't overeat so we leave her bowl full and she eats when wants to. Usually around 7pm. She doesn't graze. She won't actually poop until the am sometimes she won't poop with her first walk and eaits until 11ish. Crazy! Is this normal? She's 5. So not a puppy but still seems crazy. |

If she's not straining to poo, then I would leave things be. You can always ask the vet if you're concerned.
Are you feeding a grain-free diet? Perhaps you need to add some veggies in there. |

| Our 10 week puppy has dinner at 6pm and doesn't poop until 7:30-8am which is when she wakes up and I take her out. I think it's normal for the night meal. |

You don’t only eat at night . Feed the dog 1) some moist high quality food 2) feed her twice a day. |

| Why is this crazy? Isn't that the norm for most dogs? They have the evening meal and then they poop the next morning. I've had 5 dogs and they all have had this schedule. |

It doesn't sound crazy to me. I've had dogs for 20 years. Mid morning is a normal time for them to poop. It sounds like it's normal for your dog, no? Did you just get her?
If my dogs poop at night, it actually seems odd, like they're sick. |

| Doesn't she go both in the morning and the evening? That is fine. In the morning she's getting rid of last night's dinner, and in the evening she's getting rid of that morning's breakfast. |

It sounds like she only eats at 7 pm which is the crazy part to me, but I have big dogs that love their food and are happy to eat 2 meals a day. They still only poop during the morning or early afternoon, (unless they're sick with diarrhea). |

| I had to ask my vet this almost exact question, OP. Every dog I've had until this one pooped multiple times each day. He's a rescue and 4-6 years old (depending on who evaluates him, ha) and he poops once, mid-morning. He'll sometimes poop twice/day if his food is lamb, but that's not a constant. The vet had me to a fecal matter test just to be sure and everything checked out. He said he just has slow digestion and it's fine he poops once each day as long as he's not straining. |

| My little dog poops once a day usually. If more his stomach is upset. I vote normal. |
