Will the crockpot do its thing if I put it outside in the cold?

I'm about to cook a particularly aromatic meal, and don't feel like stinking up the whole house for 2 days. Wondering if it will actually cook if I put the slow cooker on the back deck in this weather?

I was curious too so I looked it up:

The answer seems to be that it's OK.

You can, it may take longer to get to temp.

Which puts you at risk for food borne illnesses.

Is the garage an option?

It should be fine, given the temperature outside these days. Perhaps not in the full sun, though

What about animals?

This is a great reason to get an instant pot. It contains the smells so much better than a crockpot because it's totally sealed shut while cooking. And I think the food tastes better when cooked in an IP vs a crockpot.
