Spotted Ward 5 Council Member Texting while Driving

Sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum, but I wasn’t certain what category this would be. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I spotted him texting and driving on the Whitehurst Freeway this morning in his goldish Toyota Camry around 10:15 this morning. I honestly don’t know how he was able to drive because his eyes were glued to his phone. This is shameful.

What else is new? If you search PoPville, there are oodles of examples of DC Council members flouting laws and regulations (traffic, parking, texting...).

It isn’t hearsay because I saw him. If I said someone else saw him and told me they saw him, that would be hearsay. I am a witness with a first hand account. I can describe what he was doing and what he was wearing, the time of day, the direction he was driving. It would be my word against his, but I can give a first hand account.

Why don't you email the council member and tell him what you saw? At least he would be aware that people recognize him breaking the law and might be more careful in the future. At the very least it is a bit safer for everyone else on the road.

But this being D.C., he will probably kill someone while driving/texting, get probation, and a posthumous statue built in his honor.
