| Almost 3 month old will only take 3oz every 3 hours. He is exclusively on breast milk. He eats 7, 10, 1, 4, 7, 10, and 4am. He will sleep from 8-10, wake for a dream feed, then 10/11 - 4, turn up at 7. He is gaining weight - the pediatrician isn’t concerned, but he did say he should be taking 4-5oz every 3 hours at this age. My best friend has a baby a week younger and he’s baby eats 25-28oz. I’ve tried feeding more ( he’s bottle fed) but won’t take more than 3oz. I’ve ofered a bottle every 2 hours, but he won’t take it. He was born at 7lbs 4oz and was 11lbs 8oz at his 2 month checkup. I’m very worried that he isn’t getting enough. |
| If your pediatrician isn't worried, then I'd try to let it go. |
He only gets 21oz a day. |
| Both of my kids were like this as infants and stayed on their growth curves. I wouldn’t stress it unless you DC has growth issues. |
| My 8 month old is/was like this. He still only takes 4 oz. every three hours. Other babies his age are taking 8 oz. bottles just a few times a day but he never drinks over 4 oz. Initially, I was worried but he's growing fine, 90th percentile for height and 75th percentile for weight and he's pretty much been that way since he was a month old. If he's growing fine, I wouldn't worry. |
+1 Mine never had more than 3 oz at a time. The average amount of breastmilk is 24 oz per day. That means that some babies take less. |

Is he falling down in percentiles or staying on the curve?
You could try offering a feed every 2.5 hours. |
