American University - Mailed Acceptance Letters Today

Anonymous
So this week everyone who got in will get a letter via "snail mail". Would love to know if anyone applied and got accepted this year and if so what merit aid.

Waiting to hear back from daughter who applied to American as well as GU.

Out of schools she applied to only American, GU, Michigan and Ohio have not got back yet. Kinda hard for parents who have not yet visited schools yet to go visit and get check to go by deadline on May 1st if they have not told us yet and March is almost over.

That is a varied list. DD also considering Ohio. What program is she interested in at OH?

My Dd still waiting on AU and GW also. So odd that AU is notifying by snail mail only. I guess we’ll be among the first to hear.

Interesting that AU does snail mail. The grad programs have switched to electronic! Although I fondly getting that big fat packet in the mail and stealing in excitement when it was delivered, before I even opened it to read those wonderful word "you've been accepted."

+1
I wish most schools would continue doing snail mail for acceptances. It's very exciting to get the "big" envelope! Maybe denials could still be sent out via email (we've had a few of those already).

Why didn't you visit schools before applying?

Might be rough if kid fell in love with a school and then gets rejected.

We also waited to find out about acceptances before spending lots of time traveling. Now we can just focus on a smaller number of schools.

Yeah, we have spent time over the last two years visiting and we had a lot of fun so I'm not exactly saying it wasn't worth it.

But, DC swears "they remember" but when you ask them simple questions, it is obvious that they would have been better off in terms of making a decision with a long hard trip next week.

My daughter applied 15 schools including Tulane, Ohio, Michigan, Syracuse, UMASS Amherst.

I only a hand full of schools as I have other stuff going on in life.

Now I am stuck in next two weeks visiting Syracuse and UMASS Amherst both also offered merit awards.

Some schools such as Fordham and Richmond and GWU we did not visit as tuition is skyhigh. Only was going to go if she got in AND got significant grant money.

American I actually visited as it was an easy visit.
