Best place to go on a whale watching cruise (with a virtual guarantee you'll see a pod)? Anywhere in the world lol, this will be for a future trip and is a bucket-list type item for us.

The Baja Peninsula.

Remember that time of year matters as much as location. The best place in December is not the best place in May.

Provincetown. I've gone the last 2 years in July and saw lots of humpbacks. Last year there was a very playful calf that was constantly breaching.

The two best whale watching trips I've been on were Provincetown and Monterey, CA.

Provincetown in summer (maybe other times of year too, I don't know) is pretty reliable.

Most I saw was in Alaska, near Juneau, in July. But I do think it's very hit or miss because you can't always predict when they'll be coming through.
