Recommend your preschool program

Picking up on another thread here where some people have been recommending preschools. Would anyone recommend a metro-accessible charter or public school preschool program based on personal experience? And any insight on how tough it is to get a spot through the lottery? TIA.

appletree in columbia heights is fabulous. the facilities are not great, but don't let that put you off. the leadership, curriculum, teachers are all top notch. they are a block or two down from the CH metro. they serve 3 and 4yos. it's not too hard to get a spot. the wait list moves quite a bit. like 40 to 50 spaces.
