Zota Beach Resort-anyone been?

I actually first saw an ad for this place on DCUM! I would love feedback if you have been.

If anyone has other suggestions in the area, I'd love to hear from you.

I was just there a few weekends ago for a quick weekend trip sans kids. It was really nice. The room itself was great -- we had an oceanfront queen with a balcony. We were on the new side of the hotel (the other half is a renovated older Hilton property). The pool, beachfront, etc is all great. The restaurant was kind of hit or miss, like many hotel restaurants. Have you been to Longboat before? It's pretty sleepy and you can't really walk to much from the resort. We rented bikes and took Ubers a few times to go out to dinner, which was no big deal.

We have not been to Longboat before, but I've heard and read great things about it!

We generally don't love crowded places, so really we are looking for somewhere sleepy to veg out on the beach and at a pool, with some restaurants to venture out to nearby.

We would be bringing a small toddler with us.

My friends were staying there at the time there was a double murder in the lobby. They were right upstairs. Zota didn't even notify their guests. My friends found out on the news with everyone else. Doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
