Our in-laws are in town in October, which means we can have a weekend mini-break somewhere without the kids. It has to be a direct flight from one of the airports around here, and ideally good food, and not crazy expensive.
Any thoughts? |
never been, but south beach seams fun and you can do it on a budget and still be part of a more expensive and nice scene
PUNTA CANA DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, You will remember for the rest of your life.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How about Montreal? Like a mini-Paris and the food is good (assuming you like French food).
If you only have a few days, then don't venture too far. The Ritz Carlton on St. Thomas is lovely. So is the Westin on St. John. Caneel Bay on St. John has better beaches and food, but the rooms aren't air conditioned and there's no tv (or telephone, or alarm clock). We loved Caneel Bay, but it's not for everyone.
Puerto Rico -- direct flights and fairly cheap. I'm not sure about the weather in October though.
Bermuda
One warning about Bermuda in October, it can be COLD. I went there one October and was sitting on the beach with a sweatshirt the whole time, with my towel over me. I never even got in the water.
Go to Puerto Rico, the weather will be very warm, the food is awesome, Old San Juan very romantic for a weekend recharging just the two of you, and the flights 3 1/2 hours out of Dulles or BWI.

Definitely Puerto Rico.
Old San Juan. We got married there at El Convento hotel, with the huge Church across the street. Elconvento.com, pretty reasonable prices. Direct short flights from here. 10 Thumbs up for PR. |
