Recommend your garlic press

I have an old OXO garlic press with the removable basket but it rusted and I need to replace it. I use it a lot so I need something that will last and not break. Preferably if I can get it on Amazon. I see lots of choices on amazon but would love some real world recommendations.

I buy minced garlic
But I have a few friends who rave about the Pampered Chef one - you can leave the garlic "skin" on it when you put it in.

I use a microplane. I don't like single use gadgets.

I had an OXO cherry pitter break on me. I went to Bed Bath and Beyond looking for a new one and they didn’t have them in stock so I asked a manager and mentioned that I had one that had broken. She told me to bring in the broken one and they would replace it for free—that OXO wants to see what went wrong and stands behind their products. This was several years ago but you may want to see if they’ll replace your press. Mine is rusting too and I think it’s because of the dishwasher.

Just get a great chef's knife and practice your knife skills. It's so much better than any garlic gadget, which all suck.

I have a Sharper Image 3 in 1 press that cost $3.99 at TJ Maxx. Works fine. Looks like it's 10 bucks on Amazon.

The Microplane idea is good though I might be afraid if skinning my fingers.

I have a stainless steel one that was recommended by Cooks Illustrated. It was a bit pricey, but worth it. I think I found it on amazon.

I also am generally not a fan of single-use utensils, especially bc we have a small kitchen, but I make an exception for some items, like a garlic press simply because I use it so often. In fact, I use it more often than my Microplane

Pampered Chef, but mainly because it has a little part that fits perfectly in the holes and knocks out the garlic. You know how even when you rinse it immediately sometimes there are sticky little stuck pieces? This helps. I think I’ve seen another that offers the same feature.

Do know the brand of this?

If not, sounds like the pampered chef is the runner up.

I think Zyliss may be the recommended brand, but it’s been several years since my subscription ended so here may be something newer (I’m not PP).

Yes to the zyliss. Dishwasher safe and you can leave the peel on no problem. Got mine on amazon a few years ago.
