Good neighborhoods to stay in Pittsburgh for AirBnB

Anonymous
We’re thinking of visiting Pittsburgh with our 9yo and 7yo for Spring break and want to find an AirBnB in a convenient and safe neighborhood. Any tips? Or suggestions of neighborhoods to avoid? Thanks!

I would stay somewhere close to Schenley Park. Both Squirrel Hill and Shadyside would seem to be good places with kids. I think Oakland might be too much for younger kids.

This would be in a good location. Safe, close to Walnut street which as shopping and restaurants and close to downtown.

Shadyside, Squirrel Hill, Point Breeze would all be good.

Highland Park is good, too. Tons of families, not far from downtown.

We are also going to Pittsburgh for spring break! Tons of kid attractions, good food! A hotel with a pool and a kitchen for well under $200 a night. What's not to love?

Don't miss the Aviary and the Childrens Museum!

Do you need suggestions for places to go, eat, etc?

OP again. We ended up reserving an AirBnB in downtown since there was nothing much left for our dates in the neighborhoods suggested Hope it works out!

Would love suggestions about places to eat/hidden gems that only locals know We’ll definitely go to the Carnegie science center and natural history museum. Is the children’s museum too babyish for a 7 and a 9 year old?

Thanks!
