Can you please share your thoughts/experiences with this camp at the DC location? I'm considering a week of camp here for my 7 year old daughter.
Thanks! |
| We did Kaizen 2 weeks ago at the synagogue up on 16th Street. One kid was taking Kaizen at after-school. Was ok for a couple of weeks, the playground on site is boring but they did go swimming a couple of times, the price is good but no meat allowed so be prepared to pack pasta, cheese sandwiches etc. for lunch. Good for a couple of weeks coverage but my kids would not have wanted to do it all summer. |
DP. I live a short walk from this summer camp. Did your kid actually learn much karate? My kid is around the same age as OP's, but with no prior karate experience. Would be very convenient for a week or two.. |
| I cannot say she did but only because we only did one semester once a week at school and then 2 weeks that summer, and haven't done martial arts since so it kind of wore off. She got a belt promotion. My friend's kid likes the classes at Northeast Taekwondo (12th NE) if you are looking for a weekend class. I would say one of the things about Kaizen is that it is very organized, and the price for summer camp is really reasonable compared to say a week at Sidwell or other private camps around DC. |
| They didn't get much karate out of it, and they declined to do more than 2 weeks this summer. It is held in the basement of the synagogue and it's fine. But it's not special. |
| My kids, who also take weekend lessons with Kaizen at that location, really enjoyed the camp last summer. They both improved their karate skills, and like the pool and playground time. The camp doesn't use the tiny synagogue playground. They take the kids to the Shepherd Park playground right around the corner. As a parent, I love the price! It's a lot less expensive than some of the other camps we do, and you get free before and aftercare if you sign up before the end of this month. |
