Is Puerto Vallarta safe for solo female vacation?

I’ve heard this is such a nice place to visit, and am considering a solo trip this summer. Looking for sun and relaxation.

With all the warnings about MX, I’m wondering if this area in particular would still be okay to visit by myself?

Do you mind detailing specifically why not? Are there any warnings for this area?

I stayed at a resort (for a wedding, so I kept running into people I knew) and only ventured out by like half a mile. I stayed on the malecon and only ate at one restaurant off the resort. I always felt safe. Everyone spoke English, if a smidge broken.

If you're going to take a taxi anywhere, ask them for the price before you get in the car. If you don't they'll charge you a lot more.
