petty- but should I say something?

DD 3 comes home with marks around her mouth from her lunch. A few times it has looked like a scratch or a bruise until I realize it was a little juice that squirted out from the strawberries or brown frosting from a cupcake for lunch. It's never all over her face but enough to notice. Should I say anything? Did you teach your 3 year old to wipe their mouth after lunch? I know this is petty but today I was surprised because she had 3 spots on her face. TIA.

Yes, you should say something TO YOUR DAUGHTER. Why else would you say anything to? Teach your kid to wipe her mouth.

My son comes home from daycare with food on his face more often than not. I really don't care. I just wipe it off when we get home.

What the heck?

Is your child in a daycare center or in home provider?

Mine does occassionally come home with food on her face or her clothing, but her hands are washed at least 5-6 times during the course of the school day, so if she doesn't do a great job wiping or something is extra sticky like syrup, I don't get too worked up.

No chocolate cupcakes in our preschool though...

So every parent sends their 3 year old with a pack of wipes and teaches them this? Usually I don't care but today she had 3 stains on her face! One on her eyebrow, lip and cheek. It's not like she has a mirror to go look at herself during the day. I don't think preschools operate in that manner. To me, if it's excessive the teacher would have to say something to the child.

No, I pack a napkin in the lunchbox of my child who can't seem to eat food without it getting AROUND her mouth rather than only IN her mouth. And she has been taught to wipe, fold, and wipe again.

Don't say anything-if you need to manage at that level you need a nanny not a group situation. Just brings some wipes and wipe her face when you pick her up.

99% of parents who have kids in preschool do not care about this issue.

I mean, ours does. But, as my child is 3, he doesn't give a sh*t if he has a little food on his face, so he'd ignore it if he noticed.

+1
My kid regularly came home from preschool with food stains on her clothes and face, and dirt/paint/who the hell knows stains on her hands and clothes. Kids get messy. The teachers had the kids wash their hands, and they wiped off really noticeable stuff, but they didn't sweat the small stuff. And neither did I. And neither do most people.

Exactly. There was a mirror over the sink in the bathroom, but it's not like three-year-olds care if they have a little food on their faces.
