What would be a good gift for someone moving in a few weeks to the Upper West Side? Relevant factors:
1. The move is temporary (for the next 1.5 years, I think); 2. They'll be in a 3-bedroom apartment near Lincoln Center; and 3. They have 2 girls, ages 5 and 7. Instead of a traditional housewarming gift, I'm thinking of something that might fill an immediate need, like maybe a Fresh Direct delivery with milk, bread, and other essentials on the day they arrive. Any other suggestions? |
Gift certificate to Zabar's?

Yeah I was going to suggest a fancy bagel place or bakery too. I think they have baskets you can choose from. |
OP here. Thanks so much! Love this idea - of having something edible waiting for them when they arrive - but not sure if they're huge bagel fans. Any other suggestions? |
Bed, Bath, and Beyond is across the street from Lincoln Center. Get them a gift certificate because people always need stuff from BB&B when they move into a new place. Gift certificates for restaurants in the area so they don't have to worry about cooking much the first days. There is also a restaurant right there called the Smith that both the parents and kids will like. Or you can't go wrong with Rosa Mexicano either. |
Restaurant gift card for some place family friendly. New Yorkers don't have big kitchens and it's easy to walk to a restaurant. |
