Expectant and Postpartum Moms
| Does anyone have any advice about/experiences with Dr. Beckerman at Foxhall? He seems very nice to me, albeit a little distant, but I do like him. Anyone have experience with him all the way through? I guess I am just a little nervous because he is a man (silly I know). |
| bumping out of curiosity - I am looking at Foxhall |
| He is WONDERFUL! He delivered my baby and I saw him in the office after I feel on my stomach when I was 7 months pregnant. Bedside manner, confidence and care were all outstanding. I would definately recommend him. Also, Dr. Pardo at this practice is awesome too! |
| he's the only one at Foxhall that I haven't had an appointment with...watch...he'll probably deliver my baby and i'll have no idea who he is. I second Dr. Pardo. I also like Lightfoote alot, I think she's hilarious, but some people don't like her humor. |
| OP here. Thanks for the replies. This is good to hear, so it sounds like he has a nice bedside manner during delivery. |
| He delivered 2 of my kids. He is excellent and has a great bed side manner. I had a difficult delivery with another doctor and had a rough recovery. I told Beckerman I didn't want an episiotomy (sp?) and had a very easy delivery and recovery with him. |
| Beckerman delivered my child in an emergency c-section. I truly don't think she would have lived had he not been on top of the labor process and made the call when he did. He was great on the follow-up with us as well. He's a great doctor. |
| OP again - thanks for all the feedback!! |
|
I am only in my second trimester, but I have seen him for all my appointments thus far (aside from a pre-pregnancy pap smear with Dr. Lightfoote). I like him a lot...he is pretty no nonsense but also very nice and he seems very competent. He (from what I have seen) has a dry/wry sense of humor that might put some people off, but I like him for it.

| Beckerman was my primary OB for my DS who was born in August 2008 - I thought he was great. He's very knowledgeable and calm. He did not end up delivering me (Dr. Engel did who was wonderful but is now at a different practice) but I was very pleased with Beckerman the whole time. I also had a very easy pregnancy and delivery, though, so very few issues to deal with. |
| Isn't he the rediculously sexy OB? |
He's not really my type, but I believe a previous thread about him had the phrase "I was flirting with him while he was holding my placenta." So yes, some people find him quite attractive. =) |
| Love, love, love Dr. Beckerman. He delivered my DD (breach so did c-section) and all the nurses and docs oohhed and ahhhed over my stiches. He also has been caring for me on this twin pregnancy where there have been complications. We found out at my 20 week appt of some major challenges. He was on vacation so I saw Sarafian (who I also really like). When he got back from vacation, he called me 1st thing in the morning his first day back to get the update, talk me through all the issues and just be supportive. Could not be more of a fan. And of course he certainly is easy on the eyes. |
| does anyone know how Beckerman or Foxhall docs in general feel about scheduling a planned c as close to due date as possible? |
|
He scheduled mine 1 week out. Didn't want to get too close and then have an issue where I am in labor and they are trying to do a c at the same time. But certainly he never pushed for sooner than that. I think maybe we were 6 days away. I don't think Foxhall does planned on weekends, so that might come into play on timing.
All I can say is I am so glad I came to terms and was o.k. with a planned c. It was the right choice for me. I had two other friends who went to different practices who ended up having a c after hours and hours of labor and their recovery was brutal. (they also had different issues). I was up and walking a mile within a week. |
