| Anybody from last year know? |
|
It's supposed to be 5 pm. I'm wondering if their system will crash from so many people trying to access it at once.
Good luck! |
|
Apparently the acceptance rate has dropped from 70% to 56% due to a record number of applications, up 16% for 32,000.
Good luck to everyone. The days as VT being a safety are apparently gone. |
| How do you know this? |
I wondered if this would happen since they over-admitted last year. Will be tough for DK who wasn't able to do a visit. |
Last year they had I believe 400 kids who accepted their admission more than they were anticipating given past numbers. |
| According to CC, an email sent out to HS GC’s with this year’s admission statistics. |
|
The following was sent to guidance counselors.
Basically, the email states that a record number of applications were received, 32,000 for 6,200 available spots. The offer rate has dropped from a historical average of 70% to 56% this year. "The competition was high in every major, resulting in very few second-choice offers being available." Additionally, "Given the higher number of applicants and the lower number of available seats, many students who may have been offered admission in a previous year's cohort were not offered admission this year." |
| Think Monday will be a sad night in our house. Trying to be upbeat about financial incentives that have already come in from less desired schools. |
|
Good luck to all those waiting to hear tomorrow!
My kid will probably apply next year and will probably be iffy if the stats of accepted students from his HS rise more than a tiny bit. (High test scores, but might not hit the 4.1 GPA that seems to be required these days). |
| Does anyone have the vision that all admission employees run for the exits at the time the results go live? Kudos to VT for releasing on a Monday. any other schools release on a Friday (cowards). |
| 76 percent admitted. Should be a slam dunk. |
Um. I don't think so. |
In some other universe. |

copied this from college confidential, where a HS guidance counselor posted a portion of an email received from VA Tech -
