Bottle Propping

Anonymous
Does anyone know if it's against regulations to Bottle Prop in VA daycare's due to choking hazards??

I don't know about VA - but in DC it is in the regs that bottles can not be propped. Even if it 's not in the regs in VA - it's not a good practice and definitely cause for concern.

anyone know where you can find the regulations on VA daycares

In VA it is totally against the regulations because it is a choking hazard. Please report any provider who is doing this.

Really? I've always hated this about my daycare provider but I never knew it wasn't acceptable. In their defense, I've only seen them do it when they are super busy.

If your provider is not VA State license, in their defense they may not know this is not acceptable. The county permit people do not go over this.

Bottle propping is a choking hazard and daycares should not be doing this no matter how busy they are. Please report any provider that is doing this.

My old provider, who now has been shut down by the state, used to do this and when they investigated she was guilty of much more negligence and abuse.
