Has anyone used this? If so, did you find it useful?
I realize that a lot of the posters here on DCUM are wealthy and may opt to go to a traditional financial advisor/planner. We are not wealthy, but still find ourselves in need of financial planning advice. I'm interested in companies like LearnVest, but I'm admittedly apprehensive. To be honest I'm apprehensive about trying to find a traditional advisor...it's a bit overwhelming for me. Anyway, would love to hear your thoughts! |

I have not used it personally but the fee-only planner I use today did not give me a comprehensive plan like the sample on this website! I created one myself.
I think it's a great service. If I were to use them, I'd ask the following questions: 1. What type of planner do I get? Are they CFAs or otherwise certified? Can I get a name before I decide or at least a sample profile? 2. What are their typical recommendations for money management? Do they tell you what to invest in or just say that you should be 80% in stocks? Worst case scenario, spend the $300 and get the financial plan. if not happy with the options, move on. But then, teh monthly cost is only $19. Good luck! If you do decide to use them, please share your experiences. |
| Google Learnvest reviews to see what others think as well. Seems mixed. |

I can't stand Alexa von Tobel because of her show on XM:
Listener: - I am sick and can't work and medical debts are piling up. Any responses to help me. Alexa: - you need to get yourself healthy and pay off debt Listener: - I work on commission, what should I Do? Alexa: - Do you have 401k? Listener: No. Alexa: Make sure you set aside after-tax $18,000 in investment account. Listener: Any recommendations? Alexa: Go to a financial planner. |
