Jewelry appraisal

I have a diamond brooch from my grandmother than I need to get appraised. Any suggestions in DC (preferably downtown or Georgetown) of where to go? How much does an appraisal usually cost?

I had my GM's engagement ring appraised at Boone & Sons in Chevy Chase (not downtown, I know). They were recommended by a number of friends who had had major pieces appraised there. I can't remember how much it cost, though.

Yes, Boone's. They are at Connecticut and L, I think. East side of the block.
