Inspiration needed from women 45+

Before I hit 40, it was easy for me to maintain a healthy weight. Now, at 48 I find myself with 30 lbs to lose and I feel like it will never come off. I have anxiety so I can't take phen. I need to lose this weight with diet and exercise. What specifically worked for you? TIA for your weight loss success stories!

I will be 45 next month and I am fit and feel great. I actually joined a garage gym, and i work out at least 3-4 times a week. We work out as a team, and I love it. There is a lot of banter, laughter, and encouragement. You can do it.

I am 45 and do Crossfit 5x a week. I was never a fit person - as a kid I was very academic and never did much sport. Even in my 20s and 30s I was very light on with exercise. For me it was health that kick started me. I started with just getting up and going - started with Body pump and gym style classes. I would do classes before work - would nearly cry while driving there I found it so hard and depressing. But once I got into the routine it got easier. Plus my body looked better and that made me eat better. I just built on from there - I now have a 6 pack, can do pull ups, cartwheels, run long distances. All things I couldn’t even do as a teenager.

Just be consistent OP. Start small and build on it. Even walking is better than doing nothing. It’s not a race to be fit so any incremental increases to what you are doing will be a positive.

I gained 25 pounds from menopause. Once it was over, I was able to lose it all on Weight Watchers.

At 46, I'm having success losing through OptaVia (formerly Medifast). I was skeptical at first but it really works.

I am near 45.

I have lost over 40 pounds since last Oct.
I started with a doctor and nutritionist. They put me on a low-calorie, lower carb diet. I tracked my calories thru MFP and have seen consistent loss. The first month or two was the hardest, but now I naturally eat less and more healthy.
Added in more walking and exercise (GYM).
I still have more to go (~30-40).

PP here..

I also got a standing desk for my office and do squats and other exercises.
I park farther away and take the stairs as much as possible.

Would you feel comfortable recommending the doctor and nutritionist? Also, besides the low-calorie, lower carb diet, did you take any additional supplements or shots? Thanks!

I'm 49 and have been doing a boot camp every weekday at o'dark 30 since I hit 40. I lost 20 lbs about 3.5 years ago doing Weight Watchers online. I also run races in the 10 miler and 1/2 marathon distance. I feel great.

I am not in the DC area, but I started with my GP.
I didn't take any supplements.

Lost 40 pounds at 48 in 6 months with Weight Watchers. Have kept it off now for 2 years. I exercise 5-6 times a week for 30 minutes a day.

I had a similar experience. I bought a ton of used Suzanne Somers books (Sexy Forever, etc.) on Amazon. She's made a career out of this type of dilemma. I changed the way I eat and cook for my family. Meal prep was my prison. I also took up the NEW Jazzercise (jazzercise.com). It's full of successful women who have overcome this exact hurdle. I work out in the mornings at a 6am class because otherwise, the "me" time never seems to happen because of family demands. It took me a year to turn it around, but I pushed reset successfully and you can too!
