30 Day Shred Question

Anonymous
After day one I am SO SORE!!! My quads and gluts kill! Should I do it again for day 2? How am I going to do all those squats? Should I just push through it or skip a day?

Do it today - you will feel better tomorrow.

I pushed through. Once I was warmed up I felt better.

The reason youre sore is the lactic acid built up in your muscles from working out, best way to get feeling better is to work out some more. Sucks, I know.

I imagine you're having a challenging time sitting on the toilet today

I'm starting to have some real questions about what JM is all about and where she is going. She is just a bundle of contradictions. The Biggest Winner is basically a 5 disc set, each disc two circuits done 2x each. They are done soooo fast it is impossible to keep up at times. She says she's trying to keep your heart rate up along with the muscle work.

Then the Shred -- she slows down a lot. But she says things like you have to push and push or you won't get good results, and then she says things like you don't have to push that hard. She says that the best way to lose weight is by combining strength & cardio at the same time.

Then we have her two latest videos -- one is all strength, the other all cardio. Go figure. And in the cardio one, literally one minute she's saying how important it is to stay strong, and the next she's saying that we're coming to the end of this sucker, so if you need to take it down a bit, that's OK.

I am in very good shape but I have noticed that her work-outs cause me joint pain the next day. It's a lot of impact. I don't enjoy the joint pain.

I still use her material, but I've started researching others. I like Karen Voight. Gin Miller. Sadie Nardini. Karen may be my favorite right now. She's older and some of her DVDs are a bit dated, but she is very precise and she works you hard. And no joint pain.

That is what I love about the Denise Austin DVDs (I wish she was still on Lifetime at 7 am -- that was such a convenient time for me to workout) -- my joints never hurt with her workouts, but WOW within 2 weeks I always notice a difference in my abs. I have a few of her DVDs, so I mix it up in an effort to make sure that I am not working the same muscles daily. This is my second week of getting back on track.

Good luck to all of you! It is hard work, but it makes you feel so much better. I am already consistently less bitchy and walking around with a bounce in my step.

I'm the one with the joint pain. Last night I did Jillian's entire Shred. No denying that it is a good workout. But the joint pain this morning was no good. Now, my husband points out that perhaps I am the fool, not Jillian. She does not say to do all three workouts in one setting. She says to do one.

Still, even when I do No More Trouble Zones and call it a day, I get joint pain. Maybe I just have a touch of arthritis and that is not Jillians fault. It seems to be aggravated by all of her plyometric and plank moves though.
