Im sitting here with a sore throat and considering running an easy 3. Im on such a roll, I hate to miss today. Im not congested. I feel like I have allergies kicking in due to warm weather and have post nasal causing my throat to be on fire and feeling generally run down. |
In your situation, I probably would. I don't exercise if I have a fever or body aches or a lot of congestion. My allergies have definitely started acting up since late last week. |
I do if symptoms are above the neck. But I'd include a sore throat in that, unless it was accompanied by fever, body aches, etc. Postnasal drip, I'd definitely work out, but if I felt physically run down, maybe not.
I've used that strategy for 27+ years, and it hasn't steered me wrong. |
I don't. The first symptom I ever get when I'm sick is problems breathing, so no. |
No. Your body needs to get well not over exert itself. |
Most of the time I do (just depends on how severe the illness). I felt like you described earlier today and decided to push myself to at least power walk (instead of run) a couple of miles. Once I got out there I felt pretty good and got a good 4 miles in and I have felt better ever since. Even the scratchiness in my throat disappeared. I definitely agree it's allergy season kicking in. |
I do. I ran 5 miles daily with strep over Christmas. |
I would run in your situation. Once it turns into a full blown cold, i take a rest day. Three miles is not “over exerting yourself.” |
I think it really depends. If you feel like it's just allergies, don't have any lung congestion, and have energy, then go for a light workout. Otherwise, I'd take a rest day. Listen to your body. |
