Navaratri Celebration - what should we expect?

My daughter and I have been invited to a Navatrari celebration at her friend's house. I was wondering if I should bring anything? Is it appropriate to dress casually or should we dress up? Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

This is OP in response to PP - Navaratri is a Hindu celebration -- my understanding (from my limited internet research) is that it is a celebration of women/girls (to put it most simply). I'm hoping some Hindu parents will respond.

Generally, at south asian events women wear festive attire. So just add some color to your outfit.

I agree with the PP. Color is probably a good idea. Maybe if you or your daughter have any tunic type tops? Although, I'm sure it doesn't really matter too much.
