Cycle Issues after using Clomid and Femara

Hello My TCC Friends! It has been awhile! I need some advice from Clomid and Femara experts. My OB just had a baby and isn't available for questions right now.



TL;DR Questions -

Could my body now think I need Clomid or Femara to Ovulate?

Could use of progesterone previously mess up my cycle even when I am not using it anymore?




I have been on Clomid and Femera for 12 months - (3 Clomdid, 2 Femera, 3 clomid, 4 Femara) . The last 2 rounds of Femara they added Progesterone - which shortened my cycle ( even though I started it day 17, well after I ovulated)

My last cycle was only 19 days!! (I am normally 28 without meds, 28 on Femara and 33 on Clomid)

We decided to let my body rest for several months... so even with NO meds.. this month my period came on day 18!! Has anyone else had an issue with their cycle shortening after meds? I am concerned that my body now wont ovulate without meds. And using Progesterone - even for only 2 months - has totally messed me up!


My daughter was conceived naturally on day 12 after 9 months of trying.

I've done both Clomid and Femara and never had this issue. Are you seeing an RE? With that many cycles and the shortening of your cycle, I think it's probably best to consult an RE. It seems as though something else might be going on.

thanks for your reply. Yes, we are seeing an RE but he doesnt think anything is abnormal

I can't believe your doctor has let you do that many rounds of clomid. My OB immediately recommended me to an RE when we hit 1.5 years of TTC with no luck and didn't want to put me on clomid herself as she said they like to only do 3 rounds of it as it's just not good for your body. My RE said the same thing. We start femara next month (skipping clomid all together) and she said if 3 cycles don't work, we will talk next steps.

I'd get yourself an RE now.

My first was born after my first round of clomid.

I never did Femera but with my second I tried 3 round of clomid and my Ob said that more wasn’t good for the lining and that she didn’t think it would happen if it hadn’t happened yet. (I then did an Hsg and, despite it not finding anything, got pregnant right after). I didn’t have cycle length issues on clomid. My sister took it for 6 months because the doctor in her small town didn’t tell her otherwise. When she finally traveled to see an RE she had to wait awhile for her lining to stabilize.
