Burpees/squat thrusts. Where to begin to be able to do?

Anonymous
I am out of shape (45) and want to begin doing excercises at home.

I _just_ started stretching, but would like eventually to do 7 minute workouts. Want to avoid injury.

Should I just do what do with push-ups, and add a burpee a day?

you want to do 7 minute of burpees?

try the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. They have a beginner model and advanced model. I'm in your exact situation and I find it mostly doable and she shows you how to do it so you don't injure yourself...and there are no burpees! You'll need a set of light weights and nothing else (except the video, internet connection and way to watch and exercise.) The video is around 25 min but it's not all cardio. It's about 1/2 cardio and 1/2 strength, in 3 min rotations...30 seconds of this, 30 seconds of that, back to the first thing etc. so you're not bored and you're not stuck doing 3 min of jumping jacks or whatever. Definitely give it a shot, I bought it on vudu pretty cheap.

PP here, the actual workout is 20 min but there's 2,5 min of warm up and another 2.5 of cool down.

In the beginning it helps to do the burpee on a 12 inch box or riser of some sort. But, seriously, everyone hates burpees. There has to be something else you might was to consider instead - something that might be easier to stick with.

There is a LOT of jumping, so if you have any problems with incontinence, be aware... buy a few levels up in poise pads.

This made me LOL, because it is totally true. Sing it, my sister.

You can fix this problem through pelvic floor rehab PT.

Why not just start with walking and after you feel like that's not getting your heart rate up, start doing some push ups and sit ups. I am in fantastic shape but burpees are hard for me. It's also amplified by the fact that I hate doing them, but I think they are also legitimately hard. When I do them, I do a set of 10, then 30 sit ups, 30 push ups (5 reps of those).

I started jumping rope with a trainer and had to get those poise things - ouch!

PP here. My trainer had us do more than 60 burpees tonight - warm ups, then 30 in a row, then 20 in a row, then 10 in a row. I stand by what I said. Everyone hates burpees.
