I am just at the beginning of my third trimester in what has been a pretty symptom-free pregnancy - no bleeding, no nausea, no major pain. So this morning I had a teeny bit of bleeding when I went to the bathroom (#1). It was just a bit of dark-ish discoloration on the toilet paper, no gushing. Luckily, I happened to have a dr's appt this morning. I told her, she did not seem at all concerned, but said she could do a pelvic exam if I wanted (she said it could be nothing, could be a UTI). I said if she seemed that nonplussed, I'd skip the pelvic. They are sending the urine to be tested to make sure it's nothing, but no results for a couple of days. Btw, I also mentioned to her (again - sorry for detail here, but this is anonymous) that my husband and I had sex last night, maybe that had something to do with the bleeding. Anyway, I'm now waiting for them to tell me the results and a bit of blood just showed up again a few minutes ago. While I'm waiting for results and it's after doctor's business hours, can someone shed some light on this and tell me something similar happened to them and it's no big deal? Or (less preferable, but of course, still would want to know) can someone tell me that my doctor was taking this too lightly and I should go back there tomorrow?
Thanks, and final apologies if this was too much information for some . . . . |
I actually have a cervical polyp which has caused bleeding on and off through my entire pregnancy. I noticed it as the result of intercourse and (sorry TMI) from straining to go #2. It freaked me out the first few times but it was always a small amount and the doctor didn't seem concerned at all.
Good luck. |
I'm experiencing something similar at the moment. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday that involved a cervical exam and for the first time in my pregnancy (I'm 32 weeks) had some very minor spotting after the fact. It sounds exactly like what you describe. My doctor was also unfazed and said if I wasn't experiencing any other symptoms (cramps, contractions, etc.) and the baby was still moving, we were probably fine. Her advice was to try and stay off my feet and call her if it didn't go away or got worse. It's mostly gone, but moving around a lot (like commuting!) is still triggering tiny bits this morning. Like you, I'm not 100% comfortable with it, so I may call again today if it doesn't stop completely. |
OP here. Thanks for the responses. I ended up calling my doctor's office emergency line last night (I felt sort of sheepish and immediately apologized to the doctor who called me). He, like my doctor earlier and like your doctor, PP, seemed not bothered, as long as there were no other issues or pains. He also seemed to think that the, umm, possible jostling from the night before could have loosened some blood. It seems mostly gone today, and the baby seems to be moving/kicking, so I am going to try to relax, as long as it continues to go away. Thanks again, and sorry for my intimate/detailed question. |
