Even stranger that she didn't name them. but managed to mentioned that they live in Mallorca:

The bride, 28, is taking her husband’s name. She is an instructor with Yoga Vida, which has two yoga studios in New York. She graduated from New York University. She was raised in Boston and Spain; her parents now reside on Mallorca.

Bizarre, considering that both Alec Baldwin’s are mentioned by name.

Yeah this really stood out to me too. There’s no good reason not to include their names. I feel like every NYT wedding announcement includes the parents’ names.

Is it possible they wanted to protect their privacy? Not everyone wants to be “outed” as a parent of a celebrity, especially when living in a relatively small city. That inevitably would bring press and attention that Hilaria’s parents may not have wanted.

Totally possible. Except they also mentioned her parents live in Mallorca. Which was completely unnecessary.

If you were interested in privacy you would not put a wedding announcement in the NYTimes.

That’s silly. Alec Baldwin is definitely going to have a NY Times write up of his wedding. But her parents have a right to request privacy and to remain unnamed if they choose. This doesn’t strike me as odd.

I think Hilaria is ridiculous but her parents may well be normal people.

Why would he definitely have a write-up? I would venture to guess that most celebrities don't.

Yes, this! And why the mention of Mallorca - who knows - but the geographical reference is a different thing than using names.

I went down the rabbit hole on all of this, and here's my two cents: She's spoken about previously suffering from an eating disorder. I think this appropriation of a fictional cultural identity is probably that same original psychological issue--now just playing itself out in a different form. She must think that passing herself off as Spanish makes her more interesting, or desirable, or something. She must not think the regular, American version of herself measures up. If that's what's going on, it's kind of sad. But what do I know? Maybe she just really, really likes Spanish culture.

Too American. It’ll be Edu.

Yes. She called him Edu. Like the Internet extension for schools.

How would you pronounce it? ( DP)

If anyone still doubts the whole not really Spanish thing, the daily mail wrote up the name change way back. She did dance competitions as Hilary Hayward-Thomas.

Whoah. I went to her Instagram today for the first time in about a month. Like 80% of the comments are negative now. Especially on this picture. Everybody is like dude, stop with the selfies already and take care of your kid

She is young and beautiful, has a rich husband and lovely kids. Why is she so desperate for attention?

Really? Who cares? Every single celebrity posts stuff. Idk why you all feel like you need to attack her constantly. 50+ pages is quite sad.

C’mon the cultural appropriation is very, very weird.
