I am a Brown parent and was incredibly relieved when my student got on a plane today. Was set to come home this coming weekend.

How, HOW did Brown have zero cameras in the building or at the entrances? Also heard a student say that the door to the building was propped open. This is going to cost Brown a lot of money.

The reality is all schools have propped doors and piggybacking, so key access only does so much. Did it myself on college tours.

Do their building doors lock automatically during daytime hours? It’s college campus, thousands of students in and out, they would have found a way in anyway. It’s a lot of security theater, especially in busy environments like this.

$70K a year and no security! I realize that this is something that is done but not something that should continue to be done. If The school knew this was a common thing and didn’t mar any attempts to mitigate it, then can be held responsible.

This is dumb. All buildings in the world should be locked? All buildings in the world are liable for a shooter gaining access? So if someone holds the door open for someone on their way in the school is responsible? Stay focused people.

I think this is ridiculous. School shootings in the US has created a 4 billion dollar industry. All of this money on this stuff with out solving any of the actual root problems. Is this just life now? Security all over the place at all times in case some psychopath decides to take his anger out on random people someday?

Have any of you been on a college campus? This is all campuses, there is only perceived safety with key cards. Cameras obviously do matter.
