It's an exaggeration. Hyperbole.

Many kids with families living in the dmv aren't all over the country at MLS academies.

This is just not true...you're just not close enough to top ballers in our area. Like real top ballers that have options.

Cavan Sullivan is a top baller

The best player from a family you know doesn't make them a top baller in the actual soccer world

You literally have no idea what you're talking about...that's was clear a long time ago but even more evident now. Just stop. It's getting ridiculous

I agree. Lamine Yamal is a top baller then. And no other youth player is a top baller unless he's at that level?? Absurd.

This poster probably doesn't even know who Lamine Yamal is!

What we know for sure is that DCU isn't producing either one of those players in their academy.

100% correct
Top ballers are generational and exceptional.

They are on the radar of international level agents and playing with men at early ages.

I guess you mean big fish in your small pond top ballers.

Of course your kid is going, no one said not to. The point is that if you get multiple offers, weigh your options carefully. If DCU is your only offer, take it. You should read through the thread before replying.

Stop being ridiculous and unrealistic!

How many kids in the dmv are going to get multiple offers to join MLS academies elsewhere?
All those other academies have good players in their own regions.

Right, they have good players in their own regions so they don't pick up studs from other states. Can you tell me what they use those residency/homestay programs for? The dorms they have at their facilities are used for what?

All the clubs with homestays are filled with (many) dmv players?
No other region or area has good players for them to choose from?

No one said that. What was said is that many players from the DMV have left for other MLS academies around the country. And this is in fact true. Seriously you're a troll...

Some local players have left on lateral moves to other MLS academies.
Some completely on their own initiative and some as a saving move after failing to impress here. Quit or get fired scenario.

As for this top ballers term thrown around loosely. If you aren't playing with men at 16, 17 already and have an agent, you ain't no "top baller".

Why aren't the people repeatedly posting toxicity about dcua not trolls?

You’re a troll bc there’s just one of you posting the same nonanswer and unhelpful ultra defensive head in the ground responses over and over again. Someone can ask Jeff to look at this thread and I guarantee you there are multiple PPs posting about DCUA’s issues and just one of you.

This post is so dumb, I don't even know where to.begin. This is honestly irrelevant and a complete distraction to the thread.

Since we're giving opinions... if you are playing for an academy team you are a baller. Period.

Whoever this is….you are correct…top baller are 16-19 year olds already playing with seasoned pros

If you're not playing with men at 16 means you're not a top baller is a very American concept Actually one that is perpetuated by clubs like DCU and a league like the MLS that relies heavily on size and physicality as their product. The rest of the world doesn't think like this. Sorry to tell you. Maradona signed his first pro deal with Boca Juniors at 21...I guess he wasn't a top baller then.

And how many DCUA 16-19 year olds are playing on DCU's 1st and 2nd teams? Sorry, 1st and Loudoun, teams, since they are too cheap to run a 2nd team.

"Lateral move"... Depends on which academy they moved to. Which is pretty slim since DCUA sits near the bottom of the totem pole.

Quit or get fired is hard to believe. If they can't make it at DCU, how are they earning a residency/homestay spot at a better academy? Those spots are reserved for stand out players. Unless you're saying his whole family relocated.

And to be fair, he did say top ballers IN OUR AREA. %1 of kids play in an academy, fewer get residency/homestay offers. I'd say they are top ballers.

Since when did posting facts become toxicity? Please give us examples of what you mean by toxic.
