Soccer
And yet according to the podcast, age effect was stated as a main reason to move to CY (which the podcast took issue with). |
So if there will always be Q1, Q2, Q3 and Q4 regardless of SY or BY and the rest of the world (including us) uses BY and Colleges have been recruiting with BY for years because they know who they want and when they're leaving HS, there is no soccer value to changing to SY. Only a social value for some. |
Are they paying you per podcast mention? |
What podcast? |
| Based on the screenshot from Socal, the change in ECNL is a done deal. They just need to coordinate with the governing body on how to proceed. This will make ECNL a more exclusive league and help college recruiting be smoother. GA either has to follow suit or lose players. |
Yes, because we need more exclusivity in youth soccer. Where are the college programs that are complaining they are having major issues with recruiting ECNL players when they are recruiting players from the same years from the same school with other leagues? |
It's not an issue, just to make recruiting smoother. If GA does not follow suit, ECNL will take an even leading role in college recruiting. GA will lose players because ECNL can provide a better recruiting for college coaches. |
This is a lie. The unsubstantiated screenshot, if taken at face value explicitly says it isnât a done deal. |
Sorry, but the intention is very clear. The change is coming from ECNL, one way or another. |
US Club soccer and USSF will decide in November what will happen. As of now itâs still a possibility. But needs to be finalized. From what I understand this would be all leagues not just ECNL. |
The rest of the work does not use birth year. One example is England. Also many countries in Europe (almost all) offer bio banding up to U17. If there will always be REI why not just eliminate trap players and add in the social part with soccer? Makes academy better to have kids compete with kids from same year. Also makes the grass root level better because kids can play with their friends. Nothing but upside by going to SY. Other than parents being upset their kid loses the Iâm older advantage. Which is understandable. Iâm sure Aug to Dec parents felt the same way in 2017. |
âThe intentionâ âOne way or anotherâ Sounds a lot like BS and hopium. |
The rumor mill started with âECNL director says BY for fall 2025â Once that was pointed out that it had to come from USCS, itâs morphed into âall other leagues via USSFâ MLSN is not going to change. The pro leagues, World Cup, etc are the big deciding priorities for USSF. The meetings are publicâŚthis is not a thing. It wasnât discussed in May, and itâs not on the November agenda for âfinalization.â |
SY not BY, my bad. |
England uses BY in the pro academies, and youth national teams. U16 and up is all BY. But prior to that, in what are considered âdevelopmental yearsâ youâre right, they use SY. |
