| Im trying to find some first hand experiences with Dr. Roth but these forums don't seem to mention her much. I'm considering seeing her at the Shady Grove Rockville location but she also is located at Camp Hill, PA and Frederick, MD. Anyone have any info about her has a doctor? Thanks. |
| Not the best experience. |
| Can you give any details about why it was a bad experience? (Just wondering) if you can't then that's ok. |
| She was not my main dr but she did my retrieval. Post-retrieval was quiet painful, compared with other retrievals I had with similar number of follicles. Maybe she just had a bad day... |
| NP here. I don’t know who did my retrieval at SG. Saw her for the first time when I walked in the retrieval room and was out cold 10 seconds later. She came by as I was waking up and told me how many eggs they got and walked out. So not sure how “quiet painful” would manifest in this sort of interaction or what you were expecting. |
I was in excruciating pain after that particular retrieval. It was more painful than other retrievals with other drs and with similar follicle number, under the same circumstances. |
| she did my transfer and was very quick and good. Other doctors always remarked how tilted my uterus is and how it is difficult to pass the catheter in but she did it super quickly and it did not hurt. During my previous transfer one the docs had weights added that hung off my privates to straighten my canal to pass the catheter in. |
Was it successful? |
Original poster here -- Really sorry to hear about the painful procedure I really hope you don't have to experience that again.

Really good to know! Some doctors do things at times that really make me uncertain of them. |

Thanks everyone for your input. I'm really struggling to decide which doctor I want to see at SGF Rockville. I definitely want to be seen by a female but I've been researching about Dr. Roth and Dr. O'Brien but both have a generally equal amount of good and bad reviews. I haven't had a good experience with my current RE so I'm really nervous to get stuck with someone like her again

You should consider seeing male RE. I feel that the more successful ones are make. But again, the ratio of male vs female RE is so much higher at SGF. Also, chances of you doing a transfer with male RE is so much higher. What are you going to do then? As others have complained so much about SGF here, you will be dealing with the nurses so much more than your RE. |
My transfer was successful |
| Your ultrasounds won't be more likely to be done by a female doctor than a male doctor just because a female doc is "your" doctor - and that is the most awkward/invasive part. |
| I am the poster with successful transfer. I just want to reiterate that I was shocked, pleasantly, that she was able to pass the catheter without using the weights to ‘straighten” my canal. The other doctors used those weights during previous transfers and mock transfers. It is very unpleasant and painful. Anyways I found her very pleasant. My doctor did not do any of my ultrasounds or retrieval or transfer or any follow ups. I saw him for the original consult and then he called me to tell me I am pregnant. I really do not think it matters who you choose up there, you will see a different person every time. I cannot remember who did my retrieval, I was not in much pain afterwards but I was throwing up for 2 days afterwards. |
