Help me figure out what this squeak could be!
Took my car in to the dealership because I was hearing a squeak over bumps. They took the whole suspension apart and found absolutely nothing. They told me the squeak was probably coming from inside the cab, and to try to listen closely and narrow it down, then bring it back. It’s a single squeak if I go over certain bumps. But not all the time. It was doing it yesterday, but not today. I thought maybe it was my seat, so I bounced around, but nothing. What could be lose and rattling over bumps? Any ideas? |
| Once I had a can of diet coke rolling around under my seat making sounds time to time. No diet coke under the seat? |
| Mouse. |
| Anything. Can you isolate at least a general direction of where the squeak is coming from? |
| Turn up the radio volume. Sorry, I couldn't resist. |
| Did you check the seats? DH was hearing a squeak when he went over bumps and it turned out the seat had an issue. |
It was the front passenger seat, btw. So only when someone was sitting next to him. |

to 16:20's point, or when you have groceries in the front or rear seat...or kids...weight on the seat...
curious. I once had a car where the windows wouldn't go up or down after dark. Of course it gave the car personality. But I think it had to do with moisture coming in from the ocean after dark. Or temperature. My point being, note the time of day, the temperature and humidity. |
| Take a mechanic out with you - they're much better at pinpointing noises. |
| Do you have a spare tire attached to the undercarriage? It probably needs to be tightened. |
| Video it going over the specific bumps. |
