Repeat C-Section at 39 Weeks

Anonymous
I had a unexpected c-section with the first. Unfortunately, I will need a repeat c-section. It's usually scheduled for 39 weeks but I delivered DC at 37 weeks. I'm not scarred about going into labor because I know they'll just do the repeat c-section at that point, but I'm worried about being delivered by my OB practice back-up call physician. I'm so anxious about this.

With my first I was delivered via emergency c-section by a total stranger. It went fine and it had to have been one of the most stressful experiences in my life. If you trust your OB you should trust that they wouldn't put you in the hands of a total moron. Unfortunately c-sections aren't the type of environment where your doctor is holding your hand and talking you through the event, as they are focused on the surgery before them. Make sure your hubby or partner is with you and you'll be fine! - survivor of 3 c-sections -

You could get a doula to go through it with you. Some doulas might be willing to reduce their fee because you know you are having a c/section by 39 (or whenever) weeks.

Any chance you could meet the backup OB ahead of time? That way you could get comfortable with him/her.
