Some posts got me thinking... HOW do you know when your baby

Anonymous
is flipping or having hiccups inside you? I am at 22 weeks and I can feel him/her move inside me, but I think its is just leg/arm movement... but I am sure he/she is also flipping around at this stage, how do you know the difference?

Thanks.

As they get bigger and take up more space, it is a little clearer what's what, so a flip feel different, as does the fact that the foot that was poking you is now kicking at you in a different spot. As for the hiccups - it's just a very distinct feeling, and you'll definitely recognize it if it happens when baby is big enough. I think you're just not quite far enough along yet!

Hiccups are little movements, at regular intervals. Kicks/punches feel like little pokes (or BIG JABS, depending...). Flips feel like... flips! Like the whole shebang is rollllllling around... they actually make me a little queasy.

I agree with PP that it becomes easier to tell later on. At the beginning it just feels like swirling or wiggling or pokes.
