Surprise twins?

Is it possible to have surprise twins in this day and age?
My sister is pregnant with her third and even after 2 u/s she is NOW totally convinced she is having twins.
She does look huge! and you can see the baby poking her belly at the rib cage and below the pelvis almost at the same time!
I keep telling her she nuts, but it makes me wonder... She is now 29 weeks and hasn't had an u/s since her anatomical screening at 20 weeks. She looks ready to pop any day now and has 10 more weeks to go!
Surprise stories anyone?

If you have surprise twins after the 20 week u/s then you need to run not walk from that practioner and report it! This would be like not noticing that two babies were born until looking down in the bassinets and noticing hey there are two did anyone remember delivering this one?

i have not heard of a surprise twins story for many years. I had classmates in HS who were surprise twins - but they are now 39. Technology has changed a lot in the last 40 years.

Our twinss were only a surprise in the early stage of pregnancy . However, at 29th weeks, I did look as big as I did at 40 wks with DC#1.

Octomom thought she was having 7 instead of eight. But I haven't heard of surprise twins more recently than 30 years ago.
