This is my first pregnancy and my pants are already tight at 7 weeks. I'm only 5'1'' and petite... is it true that petite women show faster? I can't believe I may have to start buying new clothes already! |
It could be fluid retention.
Also, I think the thought behind petite gals showing sooner is because their hips are typically smaller and so the bump looks more obvious. Congrats though. |
small women do show sooner. but don't buy maternity clothes yet. buy a size or two bigger in regular clothes. you'll use these again after the baby when you are losing all the weight. i went through this too and maternity clothes will probably be way too big for a while. congratulations!

I'm very petite and felt like I was showing by 7 weeks. I'm 18 weeks now and I feel like I don't even see that person I was 11 weeks ago in me anymore. |
It's most likely just bloating. I'm 5 feet and didn't really start showing until about 17 weeks (it felt like FOREVER before anyone noticed I was pregnant). The uterus doesn't rise above the pubic bone until about 12-14 weeks, so I'm not sure what would be "showing" at this point. BTW - for one of the PPs, your height does not determine your hip size - as someone in another thread stated "your pelvis has secrets" and very small people can have big hips/pelvis while a taller person can have a much narrower pelvis. |
This may seem silly, but at what point did people need bigger underwear? OP: are you still able to wear the same underwear? I am now 8 weeks, and feel like my underwear is getting a bit too snug. Yet, I can still fit into my pants without too much issue. (My jeans, however, I have been closed with a safety pin lately!) I bought some larger size undwear this past weekend, and am just wondering at what point others have needed to do this? |
I felt the same way around 7-8 weeks, but it was definitely just fluid because it went away and I didn't start needing maternity clothes until 15-16 weeks, and even then the clothes looked silly on me. At 20 weeks, strangers were still shocked to learn that I was pregnant.
I second the idea of buying a size up in regular clothes. I didn't do that and now regret it because I'm 37 weeks and I'm going to be stuck wearing maternity clothes after the baby is born. YUCK! That is the last thing I feel like doing. |
