How to make appointment with social security administrative offices

Anonymous
I'd like to help my father navigate his retirement plan and would really like to meet with someone from Social Security Administration to ask specific questions about what he qualifies for. The closest one to us is the office in Silver Spring, however, everytime I call the number listed (800 number) I get a message saying the hold wait time is 1 hr and 15 minutes. Anyone know the number to the Silver Spring office? It seems making appointments online is not an option. Thanks.

You have to sit on hold. The SSA budget has been steadily cut over the years despite thousands more turning 65 every day.

Once you get an appointment, they are very helpful but it is a hassle to schedule.

I suggest you go with an appointment. I called them, put the phone on speaker while I did other things. By the time they answered, I forgot who I was holding for. LOL

Why not just log into his SS account online? It has LOTS of info about what he qualifies for, his earning records and how much he will receive. I can't imagine someone in person would be able to tell you more than this website could, it really has a lot.
