Arriving mid-day on a weekday, free that afternoon and evening. This is a solo trip. I'll be staying in midtown.
What would you do? |
What time of year? |
| Do you mean Newark airport or the Statue of Liberty? If you are staying in Manhattan, just go in and sightsee. |
| Where? |
I think she means she’s “at liberty” to do what she wants. OP, I would walk the High Line if it’s nice and just explore some fun neighborhoods. One of the best things in my opinion about NYC is just being able to walk around and see so many different things. |
| MOMA followed by Ramen |
| OP here -- yes "at liberty" i.e. with time to myself. In mid-town. In spring. |
| Walk around in Central Park |
|
Good weather - High Line
Bad weather - the Met Personally I would also see a show in the evening |
|
Central Park
MoMA Empire State Building or Freedom Tower if it is a clear day (great views) Find an evening show |
| MEt, shopping, theater |
| The High Line was uncomfortably crowded when we checked it out on a beautiful fall day in October. Loved the food at nearby Chelsea Market, though. If it were me I'd do Central Park, the Met, and some window shopping on the Upper East Side. |
| I would do a food tour and go see a show. |

I once spent a great afternoon on a walking tour of Art Deco architecture in midtown. It was free or very cheap. You would need to do some googling but I bet there are a number of options.
Another fun excursion is the Tenement Museum -- in addition to the building, they do historical walking tours of the Lower East Side. |
| Museum of Natural history. Amazing! |
