Did you trim your baby's mullet?

Anonymous
I have a 17 month old daughter, and her hair has grown SO much longer in the back than on the sides and in the front. It seems silly to get her a hair cut since it's so short on the sides....but she looks kinda ridiculous with the mullet. Has anyone gotten their kid a haircut at this hair-growth stage? Did it look better? I didn't think I'd be so vain about my kid, but the mullet is really....errrr...pronounced.

Relatedly, any suggestions for good places to get a toddler haircut in NW DC or Bethesda? Will we get laughed out of a shop if we bring a kid in for a mullet-trim when the rest of her hair isn't very long?

Yes. I had her hair trimmed in the back.

No. We let her look ridiculous and made a lot of redneck jokes for half a year. It amused us greatly. She had no idea.

My DD has what I like to call a "frizz mullet." And we won't be cutting it anytime soon.

No. Wait a few months and then she can have a little pony tail in the back.

Yes - we trimmed right around that age. It honestly looked SO much better once we trimmed the mullet. She has this adorable little bob (I did not cut bangs bc I didn't want to have to deal with it). She's had one haircut since and she is 24 months. We still pretty much just trim the back as the sides are taking a long time to grow in. I put the front in a ponytail or a bow to keep it our of her eyes.

We're letting DD's mullet grow untrimmed for now. She just has so little hair I can't imagine cutting any of it off. There's always going to be a bad hair phase somewhere in the process of growing out long hair, right?

We had our daughters mullet cut just shy of two years at Kidville in Bethesda.

I trimmed it myself at home. It looked much better. We trimmed the back so the sides could catch up.

Yes! That look was not good...

+1
To the barber for a real haircut once it was a bit longer.

I shaved my daughters head when she was 4 months old. It was growing in like a reverse mullet and I couldn’t take it. Grew in even and was much less awkward looking at 1 year.
