How long to wait after DNC?

Anonymous
At my 10 week appointment, I found out the baby had no heartbeat and had stopped developing at 9 weeks. I had a DNC, suction with no scraping, shortly after. My doctor said we could start trying again after my first period comes after the DNC, but she also said some people get pregnant before then with no difference in outcome. When I researched it online, it seems a lot of people are told to wait 3 cycles. I want to get pregnant again more than anything, but I don’t want to cause another miscarriage because I didn’t wait long enough. Anyone been here before, and what did you do? I just wish there was some research or data out there to help in my decision, but I can’t seem to find any.

I had a D&C in November, miscarried at 8.5 weeks. My dr told me to go ahead and try after the first post-D&C period but that if I happened to get pregnant right away, it's not a problem. There was some recent research that actually said it's more likely to get pregnant and have a healthy pregnancy in the first three months after a D&C.

I just found out I am pregnant on my second cycle after the D&C. Too soon to know if this one will take or not!

They only want you to wait until your next period so that they can date the pregnancy better. I'm sorry for your loss. I hope that you heal quickly.

NP here, I had a D&C about 2 weeks ago and was told the same thing. Well “casually try” next week and then get back to tracking/OPK/etc if I do get my period.

Good luck to you OP, I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.
