DD said they told her at school letters will go out on the 9th letting them know if they got in. Anyone else hear this?

Yes, it was in all the communications. On or around the 9th.

The 9th is when they said it'd go out. Though someone on this board heard that they might mail them on Jan 30th. Not sure which is right, but probably Feb 9.

MCPS special programs twitter said the 9th for all application programs.

Everything I've received says mailed on Feb 9, so probably won't get to most people's mailboxes until the 12th or later.

Most people will get letters the next day. Last year the rejections came one day and the acceptances the next day.

This is a complete lie. All letters are sent the same day. I've been through this twice.

They may have been mailed the same day but last year the rejections came before acceptances.

Please note, when someone else's experience is different to your own, it does not make what they say a "complete lie", it makes their experience different to yours.

Two years ago, my kids (MS and HS) received a total of 4 letters. All 4 letters were postmarked on Tuesday. A yes, a waitlisted and a rejection arrived on Friday. Another yes arrived the following Monday.

ALL letters were stamped by the post office on Tuesday.

HGC/CES has been e-mailing the past two years, wonder if the MS and HS magnets will follow suit.

Ok but last year no one received an acceptance or waitlist on Saturday. Lots of rejections on Saturday. You can look through the archives. I know this not just from DCUM but also from FB (someone started an annoying thread). It may have been a one time thing because three years ago my child received an acceptance on Saturday and waitlist on Monday.

Mine too, last year. One kid going to MS, one kid going to HS. Three letters -- one yes/no, one waitlist, one no/no/waitlist -- all arriving on the same day.
