Infertility Support and Discussion
Didn't have this problem with prior IVF and IUIs, but this time my abdomen feels ENORMOUS. Heavy, achy, uncomfortable. They did the retrieval yesterday and anticipate the transfer friday, but the in the meantime--does anyone have any tips for making this less uncomfortable?
The nurse helping me during my retrieval at SGF recommended Gatorade. I started drinking G2 (the low-calorie Gatorade) after my retrieval and it helped enormously. I also tried to eat small meals/snacks throughout the day, as I found that eating normal-sized portions made me feel horribly uncomfortable. Good luck!
My RE said to put salt in tomato juice. Not very tasty but it worked better than anything else

When my IVF bloating was at its worst, I couldn't fit into most of my pants/jeans, so I bought a couple of loose fitting dresses and maternity pants. They made me much more comfortable and hopefully I'll be able to use them for their intended purpose one of these days.
OP here. Thanks for all the suggestions. Have spent the day sucking down V-8 topped with seasoning salt (sort of like a bloody mary), interspersed glasses of low-cal gatorade and it does indeed seem to be working. I now just feel like I'm carrying a grapefruit under my navel as opposed to the watermelon that was there this AM
