Covington Kids?

Anyone with experience in the infant room?

DS is currently in the infant room. He has only been there for a few weeks, but we love it and he is well taken care of. I talked to half a dozen parents before enrolling him there, and they were all happy with the care their children receive. DS was at a different center before, and the caregivers were always cleaning up and not paying attention to him when I went to pick him up at the end of the day. I've never had that experience at CK. You do pay dearly for the 2:1 ratio though (worth it to me but it is a consideration).

21:27 - do you mind if I ask how you got DS in so quickly? We are on a number of waiting lists and have been for almost a year - everyone is telling us "good luck" and I go back to work in 5 weeks. Not sure what to do at this point.

Thanks

PP, honestly, I have no idea how DS got in. I have to say, though, that we got in to the center about two weeks after we were told there wouldn't be any space until August 2010. When exactly did you get on the lists? There seem to be more openings now than there were in the summer when I went back to work.

OP, I found the Bright Horizons corporate wait list coordinator, who is not associated with a particular center, to be very helpful when we really needed care for DC.

21:27 - Do you or your DH work for Covington & Burling? I'm just wondering if non-affiliated applicants actually have a shot.

PP, while the vast majority of kids have a parent who works for Covington, there are a few that don't, including in the infant room. I wouldn't say that you don't have a shot, but you will get bumped if there is a Covington parent who wants the spot around the same time as you (or will pay to hold the spot). I know that is crazy frustrating, but I think you have a better shot getting into CK than into a Federal BH (unless of course you are a fed).

I had my daughter there for several years. Overall, a good place, tho I didn't like that it was in a basement and there is no playground. You think this doesn't matter for a baby but before you know it they are older and it is a pain to move. It is also very pricey if you don't work at Covington. Staff turnover was also a bit high.

What is the price difference between Covington and non-Covington?
